This is why you need to start somewhere; and why not with the Mughal dynasty rich heritage? Located in the northwest of India, the Mughal Emperors left behind strong remains of their history. On this first trip to India, meet them now in their old palaces, behind their forts or in the shade of a temple.

Reach Agra directly upon arrival, in order to visit its unforgettable masterpiece of grace and architecture, the Taj Mahal. Then reach Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur successively by car to discover their unique styles, before taking a flight back to Delhi. Visit the capital city to end this trip to India.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in New Delhi

Today you’ll fly to New Delhi. Upon arrival your driver will take you to your hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2: New Delhi – Agra (B)

Today you will drive to Agra (4hrs). Discover the ancient city of the old Mughals with your guide: the Red Fort built in 1565 by Akbar and home to generations of Emperors; and Itmad-ud-Daulah, one of the most beautiful Mughal tombs, made of white marble. In the evening, discover the Taj Mahal’s history through a colorful musical!

Day 3: Agra – Jaipur (B)

Early morning departure today to discover the Taj Mahal whose eternal beauty astonishes and mesmerizes the visitors. Built by Akbar’s grandson Shah Jahan in memory of his queen, it is the pinnacle of Mughal architecture. After breakfast, you will drive to Jaipur (4.5hrs). On the way, visit Fatehpur Sikri, the ancient capital of the Mughal Empire for 14 years. Then you’ll reach Jaipur, nicknamed the “Pink City“. If you like, take a stroll in rickshaw to the bustling bazaars of Jaipur.

Day 4: Jaipur (B)

Today keep discovering Jaipur with your guide. Visit Amber Fort and its walls dominating the entire valley. Visit Hawa Mahal the impressive Palace of Winds, the City Palace, and the Jantar Mantar observatory. In the evening, attend a movie screening at the famous Raj Mandir Hall.

Day 5: Jaipur – Jodhpur (B)

Today you will first drive to the village of Pushkar in the countryside. Its lake is a high place of Hindu pilgrimage as its origin is considered to be miraculous. Walk on the Ghats of Pushkar lake. Then you will drive to Jodhpur, the “Blue City” of Rajasthan, founded in 1459.

Day 6: Jodhpur (B)

Today, explore Mehrangarh Fort, overlooking the city and the interconnecting courtyards of the old palaces. Then visit Jaswant Thada, cremation ground of the rulers of Jodhpur dotted with cenotaphs. Later this evening walk in the Bazaar located in the heart of the old city, around the Clock Tower.

Day 7: Jodhpur – Udaipur (B)

Today you will drive to Udaipur (5hrs). On the way, stop at the Ranakpur Jain temples, a complex of exceptional beauty. Then you’ll reach Udaipur or “White City”, the most romantic city in Rajasthan. In the late afternoon, enjoy a tour on a privatized boat on Lake Pichola to the island of Jag Mandir where you will witness a beautiful sunset over the city.

Day 8: Udaipur (B)

Free morning at leisure.
In the afternoon, discover Udaipur, the ancient capital of Mewar with your guide. Visit the Durbar Hall with its gallery of Maharadja portraits and the Crystal Gallery, then visit the Jagdish Temple, Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. End your day with a walk to the Sahelion-ki-Bari courtyard and discover its basin covered with lotus flowers and marble fountains.

Day 9: Udaipur – Delhi (B)

Today you will cross the animal reserve of Sajjangarh, close to Udaipur. At the top of the hill, you will see a panoramic view of Udaipur, its great lakes and the Aravalli mountains.
Then your driver will take you to Udaipur airport where you’ll board a flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 10: New Delhi Departure (B)

End your trip to India with a visit of Delhi with your guide. The capital is distinctly divided between the old and the new city. See Lahore Gate where Nehru proclaimed India’s independence. Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in the whole of India, and enjoy a rickshaw ride in the Kinari bazaar that dates back to the 17th century. Stop at Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial. Also visit Humayun Mausoleum, the 2nd Mughal Emperor.
Finally, your driver will take you to the airport, where you’ll take your flight to your next destination.
