The Great Wall of China

This itinerary takes you on a 3-day trek on the Great Wall, the perfect length for a long weekend or a short getaway from the city. A Chinese proverb says, as long as you didn't step on the Great Wall, you are not a man... Legend also has it that we can see it from the Moon. The most simple is still to set foot on it yourself! Different parts of the Great Wall stretch together along 5000 to 6000 kilometres, so you can get to know and appreciate it as much to the East than West, but you'll also discover that the wall is not the same everywhere.

A Great Wall for everyone

No matter how fit you are, there will always be a convenient section of the Great Wall for you to explore! Here you'll find out more about a 3-day trek on the Great Wall, an itinerary that can be easily adapted to more or less zealous hikers.

Three days walk on different sections of the Great Wall, in the mountains surrounding Beijing.

Today, you’ll meet your driver at 8am for a 2.5hrs drive to the Great Wall, on Jiankou section where you’ll start your 3-day trek on this exceptional construction of the past. Today’s walk will unfold several kilometres of the Great Wall before your eyes. You’ll step foot on both restored and original parts of the wall.

After this trekking day, you’ll reach the new Simatai village where you’ll sleep in a comfortable local farmer’s guesthouse. For dinner, you’ll taste some local homemade specialties.

All meals are included: breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner. However, bring a backpack to carry water and snacks (also included) every day on your walk, as well as your personal effects.

Jour 3: Jinshanling

This morning, you’ll be transferred back to Jinshanling by car (20mns drive) after a typical breakfast. You’ll start your walk early in the morning, as it the best time to shot your best pictures, without any tourists around on the wall. You’ll trek for about 3hrs today. This part of the wall is the wildest and best preserved. You’ll then get down from the wall at Kylin watchtower, meet your driver and drive back to Beijing.
