This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Gesar. Pick up at the airport and meet your guide. You will leave by car for the land of cowboys, going through the small town of Manigango and see the amazing Yulhung lhatso, one of the most sacred lake in all Tibet (for the fans of Instagram that should be perfect for you). You will then pass Trola mountain tunnel and then descend to Dege. On the way, you will visit Mandra monastery, a small well-preserved monastery in a valley beside the road.
You will spend the night in Dege to acclimatize to the altitude.
Start your day with the exploration of Dege, the cultural center of Kham. You will visit the famous sutra printing house where locals work in the traditional way, without using any modern machine. You will then visit Genchen monastery, Thangtong Gyalpo’s temple and stroll in the town. Tonight you will sleep again in Dege.
This morning you will leave Dege to reach Dzongsar. You will arrive in Menshod valley, where the famous Dzongsar monastery is located, a place where old tradition and culture are well preserved. You will visit Dzongsar Buddhist college which is very famous for its complete and strict education, see a thangka painting and handicraft class, and Dzongsar Tibetan hospital. Tonight you will sleep in a local guesthouse and get a good night sleep.
Take it easy this morning and pack your things for the real start of your Tibet trekking group tour. Visit Dzongsar monastery and art workshops. Then head by car to Ronmey village and start walking up towards Mt. Ngadra through the Ronmey Valley. You will have a beautiful view on Mt. Ngadra covered with glacier from Ngadra Shag. After a good 4hour walk you will settle your camp for the night.
This morning you will hike up Shamong la and have a great view on Ngadra Mountain before reaching the pass. From the top of the pass, you can see the trekking routes of the past two days as well as all the surrounding alpine ranges. Then you will descend down the backside of the mountain and pass through Holunong to Nyamongna monastery.
Today you will walk up a beautiful valley and through pastures, surrounded by high range mountains. Some nomads might have set their summer camp with their yaks in the area.
Today is your last day of trek and probably the hardest one. You will hike mount Zhila to reach the pass at 4900m around noon, then walk down to Zhitso Lake. This lake is crystal blue and super calm and reflects the colors of blue sky. You can rest beside the lake or enjoy a walk around the lake. Wild yaks and horses can be seen around the lake.
It is time to say goodbye to the nature and drive back to Ganzi to take your flight for your next destination.
