VIETNAM
Discover Vietnam
A long trail of land expanding from North to South for about 1650km, Vietnam is an invitation to slow down and observe people’s life on the side of the road. Don’t make it too fast, take the time to explore; some sites, even though touristy, will unveil the charm of their back roads and the landscapes you’ll see will be even more magnified. Go for a trek behind Sapa, across the rice terraces; take a private boat to discover Cat Ba island, hidden from Halong Bay tourists; ride a bicycle across the fields of Hoi An; reach Pongour waterfalls near Dalat, or go for a less known town such as Sadec, where the French writer Marguerite Duras lived all her childhood and teenage time. Along the shores of this quiet town’s river, you can visit the house of her presumed Chinese lover, the heir of a rich merchant family. If you love historical and cultural relics, Vietnam’s ancient kingdoms ruins can be found in Hue and My Son; if you prefer vibrant energies, Ho Chi Minh City and the vast Mekong delta are your playground. Finally, if you’d like to relax for some time at the beach, Hoi An and Phu Quoc Island will show you their natural beauty.
