MALAYSIA
Discover Malaysia
Like a gate between Middle East and East Asia, Malaysia is a very diverse country on a small land. Apart from “KL” (Kuala Lumpur) famous Petronas towers, a whole world is waiting for you, or maybe several! Malaysia is a mix of cultures, mostly Malay, Indian and Chinese, each ethnic group tinting the cities, towns and regions with various colors and shades. Kuala Lumpur is its ultra modern version, a complex mix between tradition and innovation. You’ll be astonished by the contrast with other places around the country. Penang and Malacca will surprise you with their important maritime history, that gives them until today the charm of old colonial and multicultural towns, with a laid-back feeling induced by the coast and ocean nearby. If you’d like to discover the countryside, just head for Cameron Highlands and its beautiful tea plantations, or explore Taman Negara national park, located in one of the oldest forests in Asia. With such a rich biodiversity, this forest is a perfect place for a trek into the heart of the jungle, where you’ll discover some mysterious types of flowers and witness wild animals’ life. If you prefer mountains, mount Kinabalu and its 4095m high will be your playground. Malaysia also extends to the island of Borneo: an authentic stay in Sarawak traditional villages will allow you to peak into the way of life of the last tribal people of Borneo. With due respect to these local tribes customs and traditions, it is possible to stay in one of their “long houses” traditionally built on stilts. Borneo will also keep surprising you with its natural beauty: don’t miss a trek in Gurung Mulu national park, making your way between its forests, high rocky peaks and incredible caves network. Finally, you’ll deserve a rest on Malaysia’s Perhentian Islands. Some of the most beautiful islands in South- East Asia, the Perhentian are a complete paradise for a nap on the beach, a dive in the ocean surrounded by multicolor fish, or the best cocktail for the best evening sunset ever.
